![]() ![]() The biggest problem early in the expansion was combo DH that was primarily built around silvermoon arcanist + untargeted spells, it didn't even use the new spell DH package in its first iteration (that would come later, but the most problematic card there was sinful brand, and older card which was not clearly a part of the spell package either). The problematic decks earlier this expansion weren't really based on clear card packages either. It wasn't a deck pushed by obvious synergies. I certainly didn't see a lot of theorycrafts for a minion heavy frost DK deck that utilized frostwyrm's fury as a finisher before the expansion or miniset launch. I don't think the good decks are as obvious/forced as you are suggesting.įor instance, the deck that was just dominating ladder was aggro frost DK. So what do you think of this? Do you like the current Hearthstone meta? What do you think this game is doing right or wrong? Whether this is due to poor card design, power creep, or just the general fact that this game is almost a decade old now, is up to you. This sort of endless cycle makes the game always feel unbalanced or just boring, and the synergistic pre made packages make the new archetypes feel artificial, almost as though the devs already created the good decks for the players to play before hand. It seems as though every expansion in the last year or so follows the same formula:Ĭard reveals start -> certain card packages seem clearly brute forced while others feel incredibly boring/underpowered -> expansion comes out -> there are 2-3 clearly outlying/OP decks, pretty much all of them utilize the previously revealed, forced package of ultra synergistic cards, the rest of the classes that did not receive pre-made synergistic packages like this are borderline unplayable -> first round of nerfs and buffs come -> meta remains basically the same -> second round of nerds and buffs comes -> certain top archetypes are butchered, some stay on top, some buffed archetypes are now playable or incredibly good -> meta is moderately balanced -> mini set comes out -> about 3-6 of the new cards are good/playable in their respective decks-> archetypes that got the new ultra synergistic cards for their packages become OP, classes that got nothing often suffer -> another round of nerfs -> outliers are completely butchered -> moderately balanced but samey meta as before mini set -> repeat I just really wanted to touch on how formulaic the Hearthstone meta game has become in the past few expansions, and why I really have a hard time having fun with this game recently.įirst thing I wanted to touch on is how predictable and artificial each expansion cycle has started to feel. ![]() Wanted to start of that this post is a no way a complaint, and I completely understand if someone is having a time of their life with HS right now.
